Total Solar Eclipse to Be Visible From Argentina and Ch

Longtime New Jersey resident Dr. Loretta Itri has held executive positions in the pharmaceutical sphere and informed the development of several novel therapeutics. A frequent traveler for business and pleasure, Loretta Itri, MD, is planning to visit Buenos Aires in early summer to take in the total eclipse of the sun.

Also visible in Chile and the South Pacific, the total solar eclipse on July 2, 2019 will last for about two minutes and 20 seconds. The length of the eclipse is an excellent reminder of the Great American Eclipse, which brought out millions of people on August 21, 2017, to catch a view of the sun’s corona.

However, the upcoming totality will offer better timing when the sun is low in the sky or just before sunset, resulting in a dramatic shadow framed at a maximum size relative to the earth. This location at 12° above the earth is ideal for photographers, who will be able to capture trees, mountains, and buildings into the shot, providing unique perspectives that incorporate the local setting.

Preferred viewing stations include Chile’s Elqui Valley, which is situated inland from La Serena, north of Santiago, and is home to the La Silla Observatory. Another optimal viewing spot is in eastern Argentina’s high Andes, to the north of San Juan.
